BELOW IS A LISTING OF SOME OF OUR "STANDARD" HIGH PERFORMANCE TRANSAXLES FOR SAND AND GENERAL OFF-ROAD USE. THESE UNITS ARE "PACKAGE DISCOUNTED". IN OTHER WORDS, THEY ARE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN UNITS BUILT TO SPECIAL ORDER, BUT MANY GEAR RATIO SUBSTITUTIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. THE FOLLOWING LIST IS BY NO MEANS THE LIMIT OF WE CAN BUILD FOR YOU. OUR BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY IS THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. IF YOUR DREAM TRANSAXLE DOESN'T FIT YOUR BUDGET RIGHT NOW, WE CAN RECOMMEND SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK FOR YOU UNTIL IT DOES. WE ARE WILLING TO BUILD TRANSAXLES FROM ONE WITH A SINGLE MODIFICATION TO AN ABSOLUTE TOP OF THE LINE UNIT, AND OF COURSE, EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. IT WOULD TAKE A 100 PAGE WEBSITE TO LIST EVERYTHING WE CAN DO TO A VW TRANSAXLE, SO DON'T HESITATE TO CALL FOR A CUSTOM QUOTE ON A STREET, SAND, RACE, OR OTHERWISE CUSTOMIZED UNIT.
 PRICES LISTED ARE EXCHANGE PRICES AND ASSUME THAT WE ARE RECEIVING A COMPLETE CORE WITH A GOOD CASE, RING & PINION, AND OTHER CRITICAL CORE PARTS. THE COST OF ANY MISSING OR UNUSEABLE PARTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE CORE VALUE.

A STEP UP FROM THE 4.37. INCLUDES SUPER BEEF-UP KIT AND CLOSE RATIO 3RD & 4TH GEARS (1.58 3RD & 1.31 4TH ARE STANDARD, BUT MANY RATIO SUBSTITUTIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT NO EXTRA CHARGE). NEW USA MADE RICHMOND 4.86 RING & PINION SET. THE ADVANTAGE OVER THE 4.37 ARE IMPROVED RING & PINION STRENGTH AND BETTER 2ND GEAR RATIO FOR OFF-ROAD USE DUE TO LOWER FINAL DRIVE RATIO. PREVENTS BREAKAGE OF 1ST GEAR IN DRAG RACING TYPE OF USE BECAUSE IT'S GEARED LOW ENOUGH TO START OUT IN 2ND GEAR (A LOT STRONGER THAN 1ST). THE MAIN DISADVANTAGE  IS THAT 1ST GEAR BECOMES SO LOW AS TO BE ALMOST USELESS EXCEPT FOR TRAILER LOADING OR IDLING THROUGH CAMP. BASICALLY, IT IS AN OFF ROAD 3-SPEED TRANSAXLE. 4.12 SAND TRANSAXLE
                                                            $1950.00

PROBABLY THE BEST CHOICE FOR AN OFF-ROAD SWING AXLE SETUP. 4.12 IS A COMMON STOCK VW RATIO AND IS STRONGER THAN THE 4.86 AND MUCH STRONGER THAN THE 4.37. THE HIGH FINAL DRIVE GEAR RATIO MAKES IT NECESSARY TO LOWER THE RATIO OF 2ND GEAR. SINCE 1ST & 2ND GEAR ARE CUT DIRECTLY INTO THE MAINSHAFT ON AIR COOLED VW TRANSAXLES, WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE MAINSHAFT, 1ST, AND 2ND GEAR AS A SET, THIS NOT ONLY ALLOWS US TO CHOOSE FROM A WIDE VARIETY OF RATIOS, BUT GIVES YOU A MAJOR STRENGTH UPGRADE AS WELL. WE USE SUPER HIGH QUALITY WEDDLE BRAND MAINSHAFT SETS. BREAKING THESE GEARS IS DIFFICULT EVEN WHEN THEY ARE ABUSED. CLOSE RATIO 3RD & 4TH GEAR SETS AS LOW AS THOSE REQUIRED IN A 4.12 GEARBOX ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN STANDARD DUTY GRADE, SO WE USE WEDDLE GEARS FOR 3RD & 4TH AS WELL. THIS UNIT INCLUDES THE SUPER BEEF-UP KIT, WEDDLE MAINSHAFT SET, & WEDDLE 3RD & 4TH GEAR SETS. CHANGING THE MAINSHAFT ALSO ALLOWS US TO RAISE THE 1ST GEAR RATIO, GIVING IT A MUCH WIDER USEFUL RANGE. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE FINEST VW BASED HIGH PERFORMANCE TRANSAXLE THAT IS CURRENTLY POSSIBLE TO BUILD WITH "OFF THE SHELF" PARTS.. IT DOES NOT REQUIRE A CORE EXCHANGE, AS THERE ARE VERY FEW VW PARTS USED. A CORE MAY BE TRADED IN IF YOU WISH, THE VALUE OF WHICH WILL BE DETERMINED AFTER DISSASSEMBLY AND INSPECTION. THIS IS AN INPORTANT UPGRADE BECAUSE WHILE THE STOCK MAGNESIUM CASE IS LIGHT AND HAS A HIGH STRENGTH TO WEIGHT RATIO, ALUMINIUM STILL HAS A HIGHER TENSILE STRENGTH. IT IS ALSO PREFERABLE TO USE A NEW CASE THAT HAS NOT BEEN HEATED AND COOLED THOUSANDS OF TIMES OVER SEVERAL DECADES, CAUSING LOSS OF TEMPER AND METAL FATIGUE.
